About Me

Lusk Ranch is a 50+ year family owned & operated by the youngest Lusk son of Paul & Grace Lusk - John Lusk.  He spent his entire life working with Thoroughbred race horses. John started wrestling in the late 1970's. He spent the last 30+ years of his life traveling the world as Cowboy Johnny Mantell. John was seriously injured in a auto accident in Nov. 2005. He has been recovering ever since.

April 9, 2009 (opening day of Lone Star Park) a wild fire blew through Montague County. We lost 11 horses that day. We lost our Stallion, Grande's Grandslam, 9 horse in training, and a pony horse. Three barns, two horse trailers, 50+ years of tack & equipment, our well house and storage trailers, numerous other items we have not even begun to account for.

We are working on rebuilding. It is slow. Don't let anyone fool you into believing that if you have been involved in a Natural Disaster, the US Government, FEMA, etc. will help you to rebuild, replace even a portion of what you lost!!
